Why these three together
Stress shows up in digestion, and digestion sets the pace for how you feel day to day. Ashwagandha is used in Herbal Medicine as an adaptogen to help increase energy and resistance to stress. Our Probiotics are licensed to help improve gut-related stress and discomfort within six weeks, so the two meet in the middle: one works on how your body handles pressure, the other on where that pressure tends to land. Milk Thistle is traditionally used to support liver function and, in Herbal Medicine, to help relieve digestive disturbances, which makes it the third leg of the same stool. Milk Thistle / 300mg a day (2 capsules)
Standardized to 80% silymarin, the compound complex the liver research focuses on, from Silybum marianum seed. Traditionally used in Herbal Medicine as a liver protectant and to help support liver function, and used in Herbal Medicine to help relieve digestive disturbances. Standardized extract, so the dose on the label is the dose in the capsule.
Ashwagandha / 540mg a day (2 capsules)
A 5% withanolide root extract at 11:1 concentration, so each capsule carries the equivalent of 2,970mg of dried root. Used in Herbal Medicine as an adaptogen to help increase energy and resistance to stress, including the mental and physical fatigue that comes with it, and traditionally used in Ayurveda as a sleep aid and for memory enhancement.
Probiotics / 1 capsule a day
Three strain-coded cultures, Lactiplantibacillus plantarum KABP 022 and KABP 023 and Pediococcus acidilactici KABP 021, with prebiotic inulin from chicory root to feed them. Strain codes, not generic species names, so you know exactly which bacteria you are taking. Licensed to help support gastrointestinal health, to help relieve the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome such as abdominal pain and bloating, and to help improve gut-related stress and discomfort in six weeks.
What to expect
Give it the time each product is licensed for. Milk Thistle asks for at least three weeks of daily use to see beneficial effects. The probiotic's gut-comfort benefit is measured at six weeks. Ashwagandha is usually the first thing people notice, often in sleep and in how they handle a long day, within the first few weeks. These are daily supports, not quick fixes, and they do their best work taken every day for a full month and then another.
How to take
Milk Thistle, 1 capsule twice a day. Ashwagandha, 1 capsule twice a day. Probiotics, 1 capsule once a day. Avoid taking Ashwagandha with alcohol or products with sedative properties, and consult a health care provider if sleeplessness persists for more than four weeks. Do not use the Probiotics if you have an immune-compromised condition. Consult a health care provider before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, and as with any natural health product, before use.

- Ashwagandha: traditionally used in Ayurveda for memory enhancement, as a sleep aid and as Rasayana (rejuvenative tonic); used in Herbal Medicine as an adaptogen to help increase energy and resistance to stress (e.g. in case of mental and physical fatigue related to stress).
- Probiotics: source of probiotics; helps support gastrointestinal health; helps reduce symptoms of lactose intolerance such as abdominal pain and flatulence; helps relieve the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) (abdominal pain, bloating, distension); helps to improve gut-related stress/discomfort in 6 weeks and quality of life in IBS patients by supporting gut health and improving gut comfort.
Cautions and Warnings:
- Milk Thistle: consult a health care provider if symptoms persist or worsen, or prior to use if you are pregnant. Stop use if hypersensitivity/allergy occurs.
- Ashwagandha: avoid taking with alcohol or products with sedative properties. Consult a health care provider if sleeplessness persists for more than 4 weeks, or prior to use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Some people may experience drowsiness; exercise caution if operating heavy machinery, driving a motor vehicle or involved in activities requiring mental alertness.
- Probiotics: consult a health care provider prior to use if you have fever, vomiting, bloody diarrhoea or severe abdominal pain, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. Stop use and consult a health care provider if symptoms of digestive upset (e.g. diarrhea) occur, worsen and/or persist beyond 3 days. Do not use if you have an immune-compromised condition (e.g. AIDS, lymphoma, patients undergoing long-term corticosteroid treatment).
- As with any natural health product, consult a health care provider prior to use.
