Iron / 30mg / 30 Day Supply

Essentials No. 25

  • Boost hemoglobin
  • Reduce fatigue
  • Improve immunity
  • Enhance sleep
  • Increase concentration

Persistent tiredness, pale skin, brittle nails, shortness of breath on stairs, cold hands and feet — the classic signs of iron deficiency, the most common nutritional shortfall worldwide. Most common in women of reproductive age, endurance athletes, and frequent blood donors.

The formulation

30mg of elemental iron as iron citrate — better tolerated than iron sulfate or ferrous fumarate, with significantly less digestive upset. Paired with Beet Root for the natural nitrates that support oxygen delivery to muscles and tissues.

Why ours

Most iron supplements use sulfate or fumarate forms that cause constipation and nausea in a large share of people who take them. Iron citrate is gentler on the stomach and absorbs well — particularly when taken with vitamin C.

How to take it

One capsule daily, ideally with a source of vitamin C. Avoid taking with coffee, tea, or calcium-rich meals.

What to expect

Energy shifts often appear within 4–6 weeks; full iron status correction can take 3 months.

Benefits

Iron citrate helps produce hemoglobin in red blood cells to fight off symptoms of iron deficiency such as fatigue, weakness, depression, lightheadedness, cold extremities, brittle nails, and more. Iron citrate offers optimal bioavailability, and recent studies suggest it's more effective than ferrous sulfate when treating patients with chronic kidney disease.

• Boosts production of hemoglobin, the red blood cell responsible for transporting oxygen in the blood
• Helps treat anemia, a condition caused by low levels of healthy red blood cells
• Increases low ferritin levels to prevent anemia in menstruating women
• Helps reduce weakness and leaves you feeling stronger by using iron to enhance skeletal muscle tissue function
• Decreases fatigue by increasing iron levels that help restore oxygen transport to the heart

History

The healing powers of iron date back to the Iron Age, from approximately 1200-1000 BC. Civilizations of that era not only used iron for tools and daily life, but for therapeutic purposes too. However, the essential awareness of our body's need for iron didn't occur until 1713. Lemmery and Geofgroy discovered the metal within the body. Additionally, Nicholas Monarde, a 16th-century physician, declared that iron produced "great effects and marvelous works" within the human body. He used the mineral to treat a seemingly random bunch of ailments such as acne and gout.
